El 23 de marzo, The Experience, equipo británico conformado por Skye Smitson y LA Taylor, realizó su debut en España con la compañía RCW Spain. En ese evento se convirtieron en las RCW Women’s Tag Team Champions, luego de vencer a Amira Blair y a Claudia Bradstone en Barcelona.
Pep S. Caro tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistar a las recién coronadas Campeonas luego del evento. Smitson y Taylor respondieron varias de las preguntas de Pep. Los temas fueron sobre su experiencia en el circuito británico, hacer equipo por primera vez, compaginar sus carreras como luchadoras individuales y como equipo, objetivos para este año y más.

Pep: Chicas quería hacerles unas preguntas. La primera es, ¿pueden decirme cuál es su momento favorito del 2023?
Skye: Yo iré primero. Mi momento favorito fue ganar los títulos de parejas de Resurgence con esta de aquí. Como Evil Shred. Era un nombre que usábamos cuando teníamos a Rayne Leverkusen de nuestro lado.
LA: ¡Te amamos Rayne!
Skye: ¡Sí! ¡Te amamos Rayne! Principalmente porque estábamos acostumbradas a trabajar en equipo por un tiempo y somos buenos amigas. Entonces, fue bueno tener algún tipo de autenticación de nuestro trabajo como equipo. Ese es mi momento favorito. ¿Y el tuyo?
LA: Mi momento favorito es, porque no quiero decir el mismo porque hubiera sido ese. Fue realmente maravilloso tener esa victoria. Pero mi momento favorito fue la primera vez que chocamos los cinco. ¡Sí! Era como si esto fuera muy divertido y ni siquiera habíamos empezado a luchar.
Pep: ¡Ah! ¡Eso es tan bonito!

Skye: Somos luchadores muy serios la mayor parte del tiempo. Entonces, fue agradable sacar nuestro lado tonto.

Skye: ¡La amo más! Pero creo que Allie es una gran luchadora. Ella entiende la lucha libre de una manera completamente diferente a la mayoría de la gente. Lo cual es realmente refrescante. Como si te acostumbraras tanto a luchar de una manera determinada en cada combate. Entonces, fue agradable que ella viniera aquí y me dejara boquiabierta de muchas maneras. ¿Entiendes lo que quiero decir? Esa fue la mía.
LA: ¿Individual? ¿Es solo del 2023?
Pep: ¡Sí!

Skye: ¡Sí! Como equipo, comenzamos como parte de Lana Austin Experience. Con la superestrella Lana Austin. Reina de la maldad.

Skye: ¡La Reina! ¡Te queremos tanto! Teníamos que decir eso porque ella es nuestra mejor amiga. Éramos parte de un trío o una facción más precisamente en Progress. Ella fue realmente cariñosa. Creo que ella fue quien nos animó a ser un equipo. Ella es una de esas personas que si no le gustas, no le gustarás. Pero si ella te ama y se preocupa por ti, si eres importante para ella, ella hace todo por ti. Le conté las ideas que tenía, el vestuario a juego, los movimientos de equipo, los nombres. Salir de esto fue algo preocupante. Pero no puedes reservar la Lana Austin Experience sin Lana Austin. Estábamos un poco nerviosas por hacer nuestras cosas fuera de Progress. Pero ella era…
LA: Ella fue un gran apoyo. Ella vio claramente que teníamos interés en la lucha libre como equipo. Ella nos apoyó y nos animó a intentarlo desde el principio. Y supongo que eso es todo lo que podrías pedirle a un amigo o un mentor.
Skye: ¡Sí! Yo diría lo mismo. Me siento agradecida por eso. Es genial tener a alguien así de tu lado. Eso te respalda. Porque la lucha libre femenina en equipos no se realiza tanto en el Reino Unido. No es mucho.
LA: ¡Sí! No hay tantos combates de parejas de mujeres en un show como ocurre con los de hombres. Ponen combates en parejas de hombres en cada show.
Skye: Teníamos miedo de obligarnos a cumplir solo eso. No queríamos perder nuestros bookings sólidos. Porque, lamentablemente, corres el riesgo de que eso suceda. Pero ella fue muy persistente al decirnos que podíamos hacerlo. Éramos lo suficientemente buenos. Que éramos lo suficientemente buenos como equipo. Teníamos bastante buena química.
Y todo eso se debe principalmente a ella, si soy completamente honesta.
LA: Cuando Lana decía algo yo pensé: Si dices que está bien, ¡está bien!
Pep: ¡Vale! Ahora quería preguntarles sobre su debut en España. Acaban de tener su primer combate en España y también se convirtieron en Campeonas Femenina en Parejas.
LA: Y ni siquiera habíamos puesto un pie en España antes. Así pues, hoy pusimos un pie en España por primera vez. Luchamos juntas como equipo en el extranjero por primera vez. Luchamos para RCW por primera vez. Y ganamos el oro en parejas de forma internacional por primera vez.
Skye: ¿Qué? ¡4 de 4! ¡Que día!
LA: Mi cerebro está hirviendo con esas personitas felices que simplemente aplauden.
Skye: Gente pequeña y feliz. Nos gustan las cosas buenas.
LA: ¡Estos tipos son verdaderos matones! ¡Momentos geniales!
Skye: Es súper emocionante. A nivel de amistad también. Llegar a hacer algo con uno de tus mejores amigas. Hacer algo que amas, como luchar con alguien que amas y ganar algo, es algo especial. Quizás para mucha gente no signifique nada, pero para nosotras es como si hubiéramos tomado las decisiones correctas. Como en The Experience, ella me respalda y yo la respaldo.
LA: Fue un gran momento y una señal del universo. ¿Ves lo que estás haciendo? Estás haciendo lo correcto. Sigue adelante, sigue intentándolo, sigue mejorando, sigue rodando sin parar.
Skye: ¡Es bueno tener momentos como ese!

Skye: Y Medusa Complex. Esos son los dos combates soñados.
LA: ¡EL MÁS ATREVIDO y de ensueño! Mucho éxito y muchos traseros. ¡Eso es lo que queremos!
Skye: Por eso dije Medusa Complex. Creo que especialmente Medusa Complex es uno de los equipos femeninos innovadores. En una época en la que no había equipos femeninos. Fueron y dijeron mira, lo vamos a hacer. Nos encanta ser un equipo y sabemos lo que estamos haciendo. Y creo que Charli y Millie son tan buenas luchadoras individualmente que verlas juntas es mágico. Especialmente cualquiera que ame la lucha libre en parejas. Simplemente lo entienden. Simplemente fluyen en muchos niveles.
LA: Es simplemente hermoso.
Skye: Creo que lo mismo ocurre con BUSSY también. Sé que mucha gente probablemente piensa que son un acto pero no luchadores. Entienden a la multitud. Pueden tener entre 15 y 20 minutos de bangers o combates de 15 minutos donde entretengan cada segundo. Ya sea por sus movimientos o sus historias. Los dos equipos encarnan lo que es la lucha en equipos. Creo que eso es lo que aspiramos a ser.
Pep: ¡Sí! Es fantástico tener de vuelta a Charli Evans. Millie suele luchar en Barcelona. Entonces, podría haber una oportunidad. Y por los cinturones de parejas de RCW.

Skye: Conseguir uno de esos combates de soñados creo que es un objetivo para mí. ¿Nuevo vestuario de equipos? ¿Como objetivo? Es un objetivo muy realista. Pero es un objetivo.
LA: ¡Sí! Nos gusta la ropa brillante.
LA y Skye: Queremos tener equipo brillante. Para estar a juego.
Skye: Pero desde el punto de vista de la lucha libre. No sé. Me encantaría tener un combate en Progress contra un equipo masculino. Creo que ahora estaría bastante bueno. Obviamente Alexxis Falcon y Charles Crowley son los campeones en parejas de Progress.

Skye: Quiero decir tu, pero no podría lastimarte. No podría hacer daño.
LA: Tampoco podría hacerlo.
Pep: Sería fuego amigo.
Skye: Sería muy amigable. Nos estaríamos disculpando cada segundo. ¿Individual soñado? No sé. Como que ya luché todas…. Oh, Nina Samuels. Es alguien con quien nunca he luchado. Eso sería un éxito.
LA: Luché con ella por primera vez. Quizás hace como un mes. Fue pura alegría. Fue pura alegría ilimitada. Muy agradable. Pero para mí… Quiero desesperadamente, desesperadamente, llegar a Japón. Así que estoy orando al universo. Si llego este año o el próximo. Japón. Eso es lo que espero. Vale la pena intentarlo. Estoy trabajando duro. Ahí lo tienes.

Pep: Girls I wanted to ask you some questions. The first one is, can you can tell me your favorite moment of 2023?
Skye: I’ll go first. My favorite moment was winning the Resurgence Tag Team Titles with this one here. As Evil Shred. It was a name we used when we had Rayne Leverkusen in our corner.
LA: We love you Rayne!
Skye: Yes! We love your Rayne! Mainly because we were used to working as a tag team for a while and we are good friends. So, it was nice to have like some kind of authentication of our work as a tag. That’s my favorite moment. And yours?
LA: My favorite moment is, because I don’t want to say the same one because it would have been that one. It was really lovely to have that win. But my favorite moment was the first time we did the High Five. Yeah! It was like this was so much fun and we haven’t even start to wrestle.
Pep: Oh! That’s so nice!
Skye: Sweet! You are so sweet!
LA: It was our own little moment. I loved it!
Pep: Also I wanted to ask you for your favorite match from last year.
Skye: Oh, that’s a hard one. Singles or tag?

Skye: We are very serious wrestler most of the time. So, it was nice to get out the goofy side of us.
LA: Just everything I personally & selfishly needed that day from a wrestling match I got it.
Skye: It was such a great day.
LA: It was a pleasure. I’ll be happy to that kind of match again.
Skye: It’s what happens when you are 6 foot (tall).

Skye: My favorite tag… I don’t know. I would say Resurgence again just because it was a fan match. And we got to beat Gene Munny. Which is a bloody win when you are in it. So, it’s a win-win. She understands wrestling in a completely different way than most people do. Which is really refreshing. Like you get so used to do wrestling in a set way in every match.
So, it was nice for her to come here and blow my mind in numerous ways. You know what I mean? That was mine.
LA: Singles? Is this 2023?
Pep: Yes!
Skye: You remember don’t you?
Pep: Should be easier.
LA: I don’t even remember my name in 2023. Session Moth (Martina). Progress. Yeah!
Skye: It was a good match. You beat her.
LA: It was great! I had so much fun! There’s so much fun when she’s around. It didn’t turn out that great but I had fun.
Skye: That’s what matters.
Pep: Yes! She’s the coolest! We had her in Barcelona last week. She wrestle in LLB.
LA: I’ve seen the signs. Traces of her everywhere.
Skye: We saw a Martina graffiti.
Pep: Oh really?
Skye: Yeah!
Pep: Cause we had some drinks. Disclosure.
LA: No place goes unmoth or undrunk when Martina is in town.
Skye: Session Mothers. We do love the Session Moth.
Pep: We all love her. It’s like with Allie Katch.
Skye: Yeah! Exactly. Everyone loves her.
LA: She makes my heart full. And full of violence at the same time. It’s confusing. Conflicting.
Pep: For better or worse. I wanted to ask you about your work in the UK scene.
Skye: As a tag team we started out as part of the Lana Austin Experience. With the superstar Lana Austin. Queen of Mean.
LA: QUEEN of Mean!
Skye: The Queen! We love you so much! We had to said that because she’s our beasty.
We were part of a trio or a faction most precisely in Progress. She was really nurturing. I think she was the one who encouraged us to be a tag team. She is one of those people that if she doesn’t like you, she won’t. But if she loves you and cares about you, if you are important to her, she does everything for you. I told her the ideas I had, the matching gear, the tag moves, the names. Come it out of it was some troubling. But you can’t book Lana Austin Experience without Lana Austin. We were kind of nervous of doing our stuff away from Progress. But she was…
LA: She was very supportive. She very much saw that we had interest in wrestling as a tag. She supported us and encouraged us to give it a go since the start. And that’s all you could ever ask from a friend or a mentor I guess.
Skye: Yeah! I would say the same. It’s great to have someone in your corner like that. That backs you up. Because women’s tag team wrestling it’s not as busy in the UK. It’s not a lot.
LA: Yeah! There are not my women’s tag matches in a show as of men’s. They run men’s tag on every show.
Skye: We were scare of potentially holding us to that. We didn’t want to lose our solid bookings. Because you can risk that happening unfortunately. But she was very persistent on telling us that we could do it. We were good enough. That we were good enough as a tag team. We had good enough chemistry. And that all is mostly due to her if I’m perfectly honest.
LA: I was like if you say is ok it’s ok!
Pep: Okey! Now I wanted to ask you about your debut in Spain. You just had your first match in Spain and also you became Women’s tag team Champions.
LA: And we didn’t even set foot in Spain before. So, today we set foot in Spain for the first time. We wrestle as a tag team abroad together for the first time. We wrestle for RCW for the first time. And we won international tag team gold first time.
Skye: What? 4 out of 4! What a day!
LA: My brain is fizzing with those little happy people that are just clapping.
Skye: Little happy people. We like good things.
LA: This guys are real bullies! Cool moments!
Skye: It’s super exciting. From a friendship level as well. To get to do something with one of your best friends. Doing something you love like wrestling with someone you love and winning something is something special. Maybe for a lot of people doesn’t mean anything but for us it’s like we made the rights choices. Like in The Experience, she’s got my back & I got her back.
LA: It’s a huge moment & a sign from the universe. You see what you are doing? You are doing the right thing. Keep going, keep trying, keep getting better, keep rolling.
Skye: It’s nice to have moments like that!
LA: And this day was so sunny! It’s so warm & sunny! It’s so great!
Pep: Welcome to the spring!
Skye: It’s not like that in England.
LA: We still get snow in spring.

Skye: It’s beautiful. Everyone has been very welcoming. Very accommodating. Made us feel like superstars. When you go into a new place you don’t feel stuff like that. So, it’s nice to be welcome with open arms. And be treated like, you know, we are superstars. So, thank you RCW!

Skye: You want to go or you want me to go first? We’ve talked about this before to be fair.
LA: We’ve talked about this a lot.
Skye: You say one & say the other.
LA: Alright. At the same time?
Skye: No!
LA: If we both say the same name it would be very funny. Alright.
Skye: You go first!
LA: Okey! BUSSY!
Skye: And Medusa Complex. Those are the two dream matches.
LA: SASSIEST & dream! Buck of success & ass. That’s what we want!
Skye: That’s why I said Medusa Complex. I think specially Mmedusa Complex are one of the groundbreaking female tag teams. At a time when there were not female tag teams. They went and said look we are gonna do it. We love being a tag team & we know what we are doing. And I think Charli & Millie are such good wrestlers individually that when they get together it’s like magic to watch. Specially anyone that loves tag wrestling. They just get it. They just flow on so many levels.
LA: It’s just beautiful.
Skye: I think the same goes to BUSSY as well. I know a lot of people probably think that they are an act but not wrestlers. They understand the crowd. They can have 15-20 minutes bangers or 15 minutes match were they entertain every second. Whether it’s from their moves or their stories. The two teams embody what tag team wrestling is. I think that’s we kind of aspire to be.
Pep: Yes! It’s great to have Charlie Evans back. Millie usually wrestles in Barcelona. So, might be a chance. And for the RCW Tag Team Belts.
Skye: Someone should set that up.
LA: Yes! That’s what we want. Please!

Pep: Also, I wanted to ask you if you have any specific goals for this year?
Skye: To get one of those dream matches I think that’s a goal for me. New tag gear? As a goal? It’s a very realistic goal. But it’s a goal.
LA: Yeah! We like shinning gear.
LA & Skye: We want to have shinning gear. Matching pair.
Skye: But from a wrestling standpoint. I don’t know. I’ll love to have a match at Progress against a men’s tag team. I think now would be pretty sick. Obviously Alexxis Falcon & Charles Crowley are the Progress Tag Team Champions.
LA: The rules are forever broken now.
Skye: Alexis made history. We love Alexis!
LA: We love you! Represented!
Skye: But, I think would be cool to kind of break that barrier even more. Like the visual of two women standing toe to toe. To men. And nothing been said about it. For me would be super freakin’ cool.
LA: 100% You wanna say like a singles one?
Skye: I want to say you but I couldn’t hurt you. I couldn’t hurt.
LA: I couldn’t do it.
Pep: It would be friendly fire.
Skye: It would be very friendly. We’ll be just apologizing every single second. Dream singles? I don’t know. I kind of wrestle everyone…. Oh, Nina Samuels. That’s someone I’ve never wrestle. That would be a banger.
LA: I wrestle her for the first time. Maybe like a month ago. It was pure joy. It was pure unlimited joy. Really nice. But for me. I’m desperately, desperately want to get to Japan. So I’m praying out there to the universe. If I get there either this year or the next year. Japan. That’s what I hope. It’s worth trying. I’m working hard. There you go.
Pep: Having a match with Nina Samuels would be big. She’s one of the best in the UK scene. In Europe and in the world. And being active for so many years.
LA: And the fact that we haven’t seen this match yet.
Pep: Yes!
Skye: No one has book it yet.
LA: The more you think about it. The dynamic. I’ll be so interested to see how that plays out.
Skye: Yes! We are very different people. Very different.
LA: That has to make for some magic surely. Yeah! I’m so excited for us!
