DDT Pro Wrestling viene realizando su programación de otoño en Japón y en noviembre realizará una nueva edición de ULTIMATE PARTY. La edición 2025 del evento se realizará el 3 de noviembre en el Ryogoku Kokugikan de Tokyo. Uno de los combates confirmados para la segunda noche es un enfrentamiento entre The Apex, Strange Love Connection y Team 200KG por los Campeonatos KO-D en Parejas.

Pep S. Caro tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistar a Yukio Naya, miembro de The Apex y por tanto uno de los Campeones en Parejas de DDT, antes de este importante show. Yuki Naya, es uno de los luchadores de mayor progresión en el roster. Algunos de los temas abordados fueron sus inicios en la lucha libre profesional, ganar el D-Ou Grand Prix en 2023, retar por el Campeonato KO-D en 2024, ganar los Campeonatos en Parejas, sus hobbies, su vida diaria y más.

Nos gustaría destacar que esta es la primera entrevista que Yukio realiza para un medio informativo en español y sin haber competido en un país en el que se hable ese idioma todavía.

Entrevista con Yukio Naya (DDT): Lo profesional y lo personal – Parte 2

Pep: El primer día de WRESTLE PETER PAN 2025, derrotaste a DAMNATION T.A (Daisuke Sasaki y Hideki Okatani). ¿Qué te pareció ese combate? ¿Qué opinas de ellos como rivales?

Yukio: Bueno, obviamente el final fue el que fue. Sasaki se lesionó y no pudo continuar el combate. Pero durante la lucha, mientras todo seguía en marcha, solía usar al árbitro para golpearnos en los puntos débiles, intentando atacarnos las piernas. Como somos muy grandes, esa puede ser nuestra debilidad. Si nos golpeaba las piernas, no podíamos mantenernos en pie y luchar. Entiendo perfectamente lo intimidante que podía ser Sasaki usando todas sus artimañas para golpearnos justo donde debíamos.

Pep: El segundo día de WRESTLE PETER PAN 2025, derrotaste a HARASHIMA y Shinya Aoki. ¿Qué te pareció ese combate? ¿Qué opinas de ellos como rivales?

Yukio: Sentí que ganamos porque éramos un mejor equipo, ya que Harashima y Aoki no son un equipo común en los shows regulares. Demostramos nuestra fuerza como equipo en comparación con dos luchadores individuales muy fuertes que formaban equipo temporalmente. Obviamente, Aoki y Harashima son luchadores increíbles. Sobre todo Aoki, que es muy bueno mostrando su técnica. Obviamente, en términos de fuerza, The Apex son más fuertes, pero en todos los demás aspectos, en el ring, sabe cómo atacarnos en nuestros puntos débiles. En cuanto lo perdemos de vista un segundo, nos atrapa un brazo o una pierna y nos somete, y eso es lo que hace que Aoki sea tan temible.

Pep: En septiembre, derrotaste a To-y y Yuya Koroku para defender tus campeonatos. ¿Qué te pareció esa lucha? ¿Qué opinas de ellos como rivales?

Yukio: Mi primera reacción fue que se convirtieron en luchadores increíbles de repente. To-y y Koroku son nuestros aprendices directos. Así que, de pronto, adquirieron mucha experiencia en otros aspectos del ring y se convirtieron en grandes luchadores. Para nosotros fue un choque entre los senpai, los luchadores veteranos, y sus aprendices. Y, obviamente, luchamos para demostrar nuestro orgullo y no perder contra nuestros aprendices.

Pep: En octubre, derrotaste a Harimao (Kazusada Higuchi y Yuki Ishida) para defender tus campeonatos. ¿Qué te pareció ese combate? ¿Qué opinas de ellos como rivales?

Yukio: Higuchi es a quien realmente quiero vencer. Podríamos decir que es como una meta, básicamente. Y al final, el combate se redujo a ver qué tan bien le iría a Ichida. Y, como se vio en el programa, recibió una gran ovación. Todos estaban muy contentos de que lo diera todo, aunque no ganara. Y para Ichida, personalmente, esto le serviría de gran motivación para el futuro. A mitad del combate, mientras luchábamos, realmente sentíamos que lo estábamos disfrutando, simplemente disfrutando de la lucha.

Pep: En Ultimate Party 2025, defenderás tus cinturones contra Strange Love Connection (MAO y KANON) y TEAM 200KG (Chihiro Hashimoto y Yuu). ¿Qué esperas de este combate? ¿Qué opinas de ellos como rivales?

Yukio: Obviamente es una lucha a tres bandas. Y eso puede ser difícil. No tengo mucha experiencia en luchas a tres bandas, así que no sé muy bien qué me espera en Ryogoku. Pero bueno, en cuanto a los 200 kg, Iino perdió contra Chihiro Hashimoto en un combate individual. Y yo perdí contra Hashimoto indirectamente porque no me inmovilizó, pero aun así perdí. Así que, para mí, sean hombres o mujeres mis oponentes, los volveré a derrotar. Y en cuanto a Yuu, se retira en unos meses. Estoy muy emocionado por tener la oportunidad de enfrentarla justo antes de su retiro.

Y, en cuanto a Strange Love Connection, bueno, Mao es Mao. No sé qué piensa Mao. Quizás nadie lo sepa. No podemos vencerlos en humor. No pueden derrotarnos, pero harán que este combate sea interesante. Esperamos que el combate sea más divertido gracias a ellos. Pero en cuanto a fuerza y ​​tamaño, los derrotaremos sin duda. En combates cara a cara, seremos los vencedores.

Pep: Queremos saber un poco sobre Yukio Naya. ¿Podrías contarnos sobre tus pasatiempos? ¿Qué haces en tu tiempo libre?

Yukio: Me gusta coleccionar zapatos. Sobre todo zapatillas deportivas.

Pep: Cuando no tienes combate ni evento, ¿cómo es un día normal en tu vida?

Yukio: En un día normal, cuando no tengo nada relacionado con la lucha libre profesional, idealmente, no quiero salir de casa. Me gusta quedarme en casa y relajarme. Como mucho, hago mi entrenamiento, así que al menos voy al gimnasio a hacer ejercicio. También me gusta jugar videojuegos en casa. Pero, cuando no hay lucha libre, idealmente, me quedo en casa y simplemente me relajo.

Pep: Ya casi termina 2025. ¿Cuáles son tus metas para 2026?

Yukio: Mi objetivo no ha cambiado en los últimos años. Obviamente, es ganar el Campeonato KO-D de Peso Abierto. Así que, ¿cómo llego desde aquí hasta el Campeonato KO-D de Peso Abierto? Sigo concentrado. Solo estoy buscando la mejor manera de lograrlo.

Pep: On the first day of WRESTLE PETER PAN 2025, you defeated DAMNATION T.A (Daisuke Sasaki and Hideki Okatani). How do you feel about that match? What do you think of them as competitors?

Yukio: So, obviously the ending was what it is. Sasaki got injured, he couldn’t really stand to continue the match. But during the match while we were fighting, while everything was still going on, he would usually use the referee to hit the blind spots, try to hit our legs. Because we’re very big guys and that can be a weakness. So, if he’s hitting our legs, we can’t really stand and fight. I really understand how scary Sasaki could be using all his dirty tricks in a sense to really hit us in the right spots.

Pep: On the second day of WRESTLE PETER PAN 2025, you defeated HARASHIMA & Shinya Aoki. How do you feel about that match? What do you think of them as competitors?

Yukio: I felt like we won because we were a better tag team, because Harashima san and Aoki san are not really a normal tag team on regular shows. So, we really showed our strength as a tag team compared to two very strong single wrestlers that were a team for the time being. Obviously, Aoki san and Harashima san are amazing wrestlers. Especially for, like, Aoki, he’s very good at showing his technique. Obviously, in terms of strength, The Apex are stronger, but in every other aspect, in the wrestling ring, he really knows how to attack us on our weak spots and everything. The second we just lose sight of him for a second, he’ll get an arm or a leg and lock us into a submission, and that’s what makes Aoki san very scary.

Pep: In September, you defeated To-y and Yuya Koroku to defend your championships. How do you feel about that match? What do you think of them as competitors?

Yukio: My immediate reaction was that they really grew into amazing wrestlers all of a sudden. To-y and Koroku are our direct juniors. So, all of a sudden, they’ve been getting a lot of experience in other aspects of the ring, and they really grew into great wrestlers themselves. For us was a clashing between the senpai, the senior wrestlers and their juniors. And we obvioulsy fought to show our pride and not lose to our juniors.

Pep: In October, you defeated Harimao (Kazusada Higuchi and Yuki Ishida) to defend your championships. How do you feel about that match? What do you think of them as competitors?

Yukio: Higuchi is the one guy I really want to beat. We could say it’s like a goal, basically. And then like in the end, the match really boiled down to like, how well would Ichida be doing in the match. And, as you see in the show, he had a standing ovation. Everybody was very glad he did his best, even though he didn’t win. And for Ichida, himself personally, it would give him very good motivation going forward. While we were wrestling halfway through the match, we really felt like we were really enjoying the match, just really enjoying the fight.

Pep: At Ultimate Party 2025, you will defend your belts against Strange Love Connection (MAO and KANON) and TEAM 200KG (Chihiro Hashimoto and Yuu). What are your expectations for this match? What do you think of them as competitors?

Yukio: Obviously it’s a 3-way match. And that can be difficult. I don’t really have much experience in 3-way matches, so I don’t really know what I’m going to go into at Ryogoku. But well, regarding to 200kg, Iino has lost to Chihiro Hashimoto in a singles match. And I lost to Hashimoto in a match indirectly because I didn’t got pinned, but I still lost regardless. So, for me, whether my opponents are male or female, I will destroy them again regardless. And as for Yuu, she’s retiring in a few months. I’m just really excited to getting the opportunity to face her just before her retirement.

And, in consideration of Strange Love Connection, well, MAO is MAO. I don’t know what MAO is thinking. Maybe nobody knows what MAO is actually thinking. We cannot beat in the humor factor. They cannot defeat us but they will make this match interesting. We expect the match will be funnier because of them. But in the feats of strength and size, we will destroy them regardless. In a face-to-face battles we will be the winners.

Pep: We want to know a little about Yukio Naya. Could you tell us about your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?

Yukio: I like collecting shoes. Sneakers type.

Pep: When you don’t have a match or a show to participate in, what is a normal day in your life like?

Yukio: On a normal day when I don’t have anything related to pro wrestling, ideally, I don’t want to leave the house. I like staying at home and relaxing. At most I will do my training so at least I will go to the gym to do my work out. I also like to play games at home. But, when there’s no wrestling, ideally, I’m going to be staying at home and just relaxing.

Pep: We’re almost at the end of 2025. What are your goals for 2026?

My goal has never changed the past few years. It’s obviously to win the KO-D Openweight Championships. So, how do I get from this point right now to the KO-D Openweight Championship? I’m still focus. I’m just trying to think of the best way to get there.
