Entrevista con Yuki Iino (DDT): Lo profesional y lo personal – Parte 2

DDT Pro Wrestling viene realizando su programación de otoño en Japón y en noviembre realizará una nueva edición de ULTIMATE PARTY. La edición 2025 del evento se realizará el 3 de noviembre en el Ryogoku Kokugikan de Tokyo. Uno de los combates confirmados para la segunda noche es un enfrentamiento entre The Apex, Strange Love Connection y Team 200KG por los Campeonatos KO-D en Parejas.

Pep S. Caro tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistar a Yuki Iino, miembro de The Apex y por tanto uno de los Campeones en Parejas de DDT, antes de este importante show. Yuki Iino, es uno de los luchadores de mayor progresión en el roster. Algunos de los temas abordados fueron sus inicios en la lucha libre profesional, sus diferentes etapas en DDT, su reinado como Campeón Universal, ganar los Campeonatos en Parejas, sus hobbies, su vida diaria y más.

 Nos gustaría destacar que esta es la primera entrevista que Yuki Iino realiza para un medio informativo en español y sin haber competido en un país en el que se hable ese idioma todavía.

Pep: En el segundo día de WRESTLE PETER PAN 2025, derrotaste a HARASHIMA y Shinya Aoki. ¿Qué te pareció ese combate? ¿Qué opinas de ellos como rivales?

Yuki: Shinya Aoki es mundialmente famoso, no hace falta explicar quién es. Usa su fuerza en mi contra. Aoki-san usa sus muchos años de experiencia y sus técnicas refinadas para detenerme. Aunque use mis lazos o golpes, Aoki-san siempre encuentra la forma de pararme. Y al final, casi al final del combate, Aoki-san me mordió los pezones. Creo que tenía algo muy popular, así que me decepcionó muchísimo que me mordiera los pezones. La próxima vez que me enfrente a Aoki-san, me vengaré; quizá incluso le devuelva el mordisco.

Ya me enfrenté a Harashima-san en una lucha por el título KO-D Openweight, aunque aquella fue en parejas. Me pregunto cómo me irá en una lucha individual la próxima vez. Cada patada de Harashima ha sido entrenada a la perfección; su Somato es peligroso, así que definitivamente no quiero recibirlo de frente. Por suerte, esta vez Naya estuvo mucho más a la ofensiva contra Harashima. Le agradezco mucho a Naya su ayuda. Sin embargo, estoy un poco decepcionado porque cada vez que intentaba interponerme en el camino de Harashima-san, Aoki-san me lo impedía de una forma u otra.

Pep: En septiembre, derrotaste a To-y y Yuya Koroku para defender tus campeonatos. ¿Qué te pareció esa lucha? ¿Qué opinas de ellos como competidores?

Yuki: Koroku y To-y representan a la nueva generación, la era de D Generations. Están haciendo todo lo posible para llevar la era al siguiente nivel, escalando posiciones en DDT, y quieren superar a Apex. Obviamente, Apex no puede permitirse perder contra ellos ahora mismo, y competimos en el combate pensando: “Tenemos que ganar”. Así que, por suerte, esta vez conseguí la victoria. Todavía tienen margen de mejora, pero estoy seguro de que van a mejorar.

To-y está en 37KAMIINA y está mejorando cada vez más. Cuando me enfrenté a él en el combate por el título universal en Fukuoka, su potencia y velocidad eran impresionantes. Me sorprendió mucho lo bien que está mejorando. Y Koroku, estuvimos juntos en Burning; su pasión era muy fuerte, pero ahora está cada vez más apasionado y enérgico. Tengo muchas ganas de ver cómo mejoran en el futuro.

Pep: En octubre, derrotaste a Harimao (Kazusada Higuchi y Yuki Ishida) para defender tus campeonatos. ¿Qué te pareció ese combate? ¿Qué opinas de ellos como rivales?

Yuki: He luchado contra Higuchi muchas veces en combates individuales durante la era DNA. Siempre lo he visto luchando por el cinturón KO-D Openweight y muchos otros. Higuchi es como un veterano en la división de peso pesado, un senpai para todos los luchadores de DDT. Siento que algún día tengo que superar a Higuchi si quiero convertirme en campeón KO-D Openweight. Me alegra mucho haber podido enfrentarme a Higuchi en el combate por parejas de KO-D. Cada vez que hacía un golpe, tenía que responder. Es muy bueno. Es un luchador increíble.

Y sobre Ishida, siento que no ha estado a la altura de las circunstancias, entre el talento de D Generation. Muchos de ellos han ido ascendiendo y siento que él sigue estancado, no donde quiere estar. Esta vez representaba a Harimao. Sentía que estaba perjudicando un poco a Harimao. Pero, como se pudo ver en el combate, hizo todo lo posible por vencernos. Y aunque Ishida no ganó, demostró su tenacidad. Va a mejorar a partir de ahora. Sin duda, subirá puestos en la clasificación después del combate de la semana pasada.

Pep: En Ultimate Party 2025, defenderás tus campeonatos contra Strange Love Connection (MAO y KANON) y TEAM 200KG (Chihiro Hashimoto y Yuu). ¿Qué esperas de este combate? ¿Qué opinas de ellas como rivales?

Yuki: De Team 200 kg, no he visto la mayoría de sus combates, pero son, eh, una de las fuerzas imparables de SENJO. Yuu acaba de entrar en TJPW, pero no nos hemos enfrentado mucho en el ring. Sin embargo, conociendo la trayectoria de Team 200 kg en la división femenina de Japón, es evidente que no muchas pueden vencerlas solo con fuerza. Así que, si alguien quiere derrotarlas, tendrá que buscar otras maneras. Su fuerza es impresionante. Y sobre Chihiro Hashimoto, creo que no hace falta decirlo, pero he perdido contra ella dos veces: una en combates individuales y otra en parejas. Incluso fuimos equipo una vez y competimos por los cinturones KO-D. Perdimos y nunca terminamos en buenos términos. Así que, esta vez, la voy a vencer en Ryogoku y luego volveremos a ser amigas después de un apretón de manos. Ahora mismo, solo estoy concentrada en Hashimoto y nada más que en Hashimoto.

Sobre Strange Love Connection, el impulso de MAO es increíble. Ha estado en la división Super Junior de New Japan y sus ideas siempre son descabelladas, muy extrañas y únicas. Así que, ya sabes, mientras me concentro en Chihiro Hashimoto, creo que MAO aparecerá de la nada. Y eso es lo que lo hace temible. Kanon, después de dejar DAMNATION, se hizo mucho más grande y mejor, y ahora se está volviendo más fuerte y rápido. Así que también es una amenaza para MAO, pero mi objetivo es solo derrotar a Hashimoto.

Pep: Queremos saber un poco sobre Yuki Iino. ¿Podrías contarnos sobre tus pasatiempos? ¿Qué haces en tu tiempo libre?

Yuki: Me gusta la moda. Me la paso viendo cosas de moda. Me gusta comprar la ropa que está de moda ahora mismo. Marcas de moda o lo que sea que esté en tendencia.

Pep: Entiendo. La chaqueta que llevas ahora se ve muy moderna.

Yuki: Es de una marca llamada Casablanca. La vi por casualidad un día, me gustó y probablemente al diseñador le gusta Japón porque esta marca también hace camisetas con palabras en japonés. No había visto muchas hasta hace unos cuatro o cinco años. Y probablemente sea la única que tengo ahora mismo, pero me gusta mucho. Tengo ganas de comprarme más. Los diseños tienen colores muy llamativos y modernos.

Pep: Ahora mismo, MAO y Yoshihiko son campeones de BZW en Francia y hemos visto a muchos luchadores japoneses allí. ¿Te interesaría visitar países relacionados con la moda?

Yuki: Por supuesto, me interesa mucho ir a París. Podría ir a buscar todas las marcas de moda como LVMH, la colección de París. Me gustaría ver qué se lleva en las pasarelas este año, qué es tendencia, cuál podría ser el próximo color de moda. Me encantaría luchar allí alguna vez, pero también me tomaría mi tiempo para admirar la ropa tan bonita que hay.

Pep: Cuando no tienes un combate o un espectáculo en el que participar, ¿cómo es un día normal en tu vida?

Yuki: Tengo mi propio gimnasio. Si revisas mis redes sociales, puedes ver el gimnasio Iino. También soy entrenador personal; ayudo a mis clientes con su entrenamiento. A finales del verano, firmé con un equipo de fútbol americano. Así que estoy entrenando para estar en el equipo principal el próximo año también. Además de eso, también entreno en mi gimnasio. Y durante el día, paseo a mi perro y me tomo un buen café.

Pep: ¿Cómo ha ido tu entrenamiento de fútbol americano hasta ahora?

Yuki: Sí, he estado entrenando, intentando hacer los placajes porque tengo experiencia en rugby, aunque el fútbol americano es un poco diferente, también es difícil. He estado mejorando mi juego de pies también porque hay jugadas que requieren más de eso y no solo fuerza bruta. Así que no es fácil, pero me he esforzado al máximo con mis compañeros para mejorar cada vez más. Creo que estoy progresando a buen ritmo.

Pep: Ya casi termina 2025. ¿Cuáles son tus metas para 2026?

Yuki: El próximo año quiero ser Campeón KO-D de Peso Abierto. Tendré que disputar el título al menos una vez. Y este año, quiero defender el cinturón en Ryogoku y llevar a The Apex a la cima del mundo de la lucha libre profesional japonesa. Podría decirse que quiero convertirme en la máxima exponente de la lucha libre profesional japonesa.

Pep: On the second day of WRESTLE PETER PAN 2025, you defeated HARASHIMA & Shinya Aoki. What are your feelings about that match? What do you think of them as competitors?

Yuki: Shinya Aoki, he’s world famous, we don’t really need to explain who he is every time. He uses his strength against me. Aoki san uses his many years of experience, his refined techniques to stop me. Even if I use my lariats or do chops, Aoki san will find a way to stop me. And in the end, near the end of the match, Aoki san actually bit my nipples. I think I had a just very popular thing, so I got very, very disappointed, that he bit my nipples. Next time I face Aoki san, I’m going to get my revenge, maybe I’ll even bite his nipple back.

Harashima san, I fought him in a KO-D Openweight title match before, even though this one was a tag match, I wonder how I’ll face him in a singles next time. So, every kick of Harashima has been train to perfection, his Somato is dangerous, so, I definitely don’t want to get the Somato in my face, but, thankfully this time around, Naya was really more on the offense against Harashima. I’m very thankful that Naya really helped me this time. But I’m a bit disappointed because every time I tried to get into Harashima san’s way, Aoki san would stop me one way or the other.

Pep: In September, you defeated To-y and Yuya Koroku to defend your championships. How do you feel about that match? What do you think of them as competitors?

Yuki: Koroku and To-y, represent the younger generation, the D Generations Era. They’re doing their best to bring the era to the next step, climbing up the ranks of DDT, and they want to surpass the Apex. Obviously, the Apex cannot afford to lose to them right now, and we compete in the match thinking “we have to win the match”. So, thankfully, this time, I got the pin this time round. They still have more ways to improve themselves in the future, but I’m very sure that they’re going to get better.

To-y he’s in the 37KAMIINA, he’s getting better and better. When I faced him in the universal title match in Fukuoka his power and speed was very, very good. I was very surprised at how good he’s getting. And Koroku, we were in Burning together, his passion was very strong, but now he’s getting more and more passionate and more energetic. I’m looking forward to see how they improve in the future as well.

Pep: In October, you defeated Harimao (Kazusada Higuchi and Yuki Ishida) to defend your championships. How do you feel about that match? What do you think of them as competitors?

Yuki: I’ve fought Higuchi many times in singles bout during the DNA era. I’ve always seen Higuchi challenging for the KO-D Openweight belt and many other belts. Higuchi is like a senior in the heavyweight division, like a senpai for all the DDT wrestlers. I feel like I have to surpass Higuchi one day if I want to become the KO-D Openweight champion. I’m very glad that I could face Higuchi in the KO-D tag match. Every time He did a chop, I had to respond. He’s very good. He’s an amazing wrestler.

And about Ishida, I feel like he’s not been carrying his weight in a sense, amongst the D Generation talent. A lot of them have been going up in the ranks and I feels like he’s still stuck somewhere, not where he wants to be. This time he was representing Harimao. He felt like he was kind of dragging Harimao down a bit. But as you can see in the match, he did his best to try to beat us. And even though Ishida didn’t win the match, he showed his grit. He’s going to get better from here onwards. He’s definitely going up the ranks after last week’s match.

Pep: At Ultimate Party 2025, you will defend your championships against Strange Love Connection (MAO and KANON) and TEAM 200KG (Chihiro Hashimoto and Yuu). What are your expectations for this match? What do you think of them as competitors?

Yuki: Team 200 kg, I haven’t really seen most of their matches, but they’re like, uh, one of the unstoppable forces of SENJO. Yuu just to be in TJPW but we didn’t collide much in the ring. But just by hearing or knowing the history of Team 200 kg in the women’s division in Japan, not many people can beat them by strength. So clearly, if someone wants to beat them, they have to find other ways. So, their strength is amazing. And about Chihiro Hashimoto, I feel like I don’t really need to say it anymore, but I lost to her twice, once in singles, once in tags. We even were a tag team once and challenged for the KO-D belts. We lost and we never ended in good terms. So, this time, I’m going to beat her at Ryogoku and then we will become friends again after a handshake. Right now, I’m only focus on Hashimoto and nothing, but Hashimoto.

About Strange Love connection, MAO’s momentum is amazing. He’s been in the super junior in New Japan and his ideas are always just off the wall, very strange, unique ideas. So, you know, while I’m focused on Chihiro Hashimoto, I think MAO will find his way in and out of nowhere. And that’s what makes him scary. Kanon, after he left DAMNATION, he got really bigger and better and now he’s getting kind of stronger and faster. So, he’s also a threat with MAO, but my goal is only to defeat Hashimoto.

Pep: We want to know a little about Yuki Iino. Could you tell us about your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?

Yuki: I like fashion. I’m looking at fashion stuff on my free time. I like buying whatever’s the trending clothes right now. Hot topic brands or whatever it’s hot right now.

Pep: I understande. The jacket you have right now seems very trendy.

Yuki: This is from a brand called Casablanca. I just happened to see it one day, I liked it and probably the designer likes Japan because this brand makes t-shirts with Japanese wordings on it as well. I haven’t seen many until around the past four or five years. And it’s probably the only one right now that I own, but I really like it. I’m looking forward to gettin more. The designs have very poppy trendy colors.

Pep: Right now, MAO and Yoshihiko are Champions in BZW in France and we’ve seen many Japanese wrestlers there. Would you be interested in visiting countries related to fashion?

Yuki: Of course, I´m really interested about going to Paris. I could go look for all the fashion brands like LVMH, the Paris collection. I would like to see what’s on the runway this year, what’s trending, what could be the next hot color. I would love to wrestle there one time, but I would also take my time to look at very nice clothes there too.

Pep: When you don’t have a match or a show to participate in, what is a normal day in your life like?

Yuki: I have my own personal gym. If you check my social media, you can check the Iino gym there. I also do personal training, I help my clients with their training. Around the end of the Summer, I signed with an American football team. So, I’m doing training to be in the main squad next year as well. So, other than that, I also train on my personal gym. And during they day I’m taking my dog for a walk and having a nice cup of coffee.

Pep: How’s been your American football training so far?

Yuki: Yeah, I’ve been training, trying to do the tackles because I had rugby experience, even though American football is slightly different, it’s hard as well. I’ve been improving my footwork as well because there’s moves that involve more of that and not just brute force. So, it’s not easy, but I’ve been doing my best with the teammates as well to get better and better. I think that I’m moving at a good pace.

Pep: We’re almost at the end of 2025. What are your goals for 2026?

Yuki: Next year I want to be the KO-D Openweigth Champion. I will have to challenge the belt at least one time. And as for this year, I want to defend the belt Ryogoku and bring The Apex to the top of the Japanese pro wrestling world. You could say it as to become The Apex of the Japanese pro wrestling world.

Pep: Thank you for participating in this interview. Finally, do you have any message for your fans and DDT fans?

Yuki: I will defend the belt successfully at Ryogoku. Please continue to support The Apex and please continue to support Yuki Inou in DDT. See you all in the venue!
